Cycling to Vienna: Safe Bicycle Parking at the Kärntnerhof
The Kärntnerhof on the Danube Cycle Path (EuroVelo 6)
The Austrian Danube Cycle Path is part of EuroVelo 6, the “Rivers Route” that crosses Europe. The classic leg from Passau to Vienna is about 312 kilometers long, is mostly flat, and is approximately 90% off the main roads—the Danube Cycle Path is considered by many cyclists to be one of the most beautiful river bike paths in Europe. Vienna is thus a natural stop along the route: In the city, the route runs along the Treppelweg by the Danube Canal, just a few minutes’ walk from the Kärntnerhof.
Many of our cycling guests have the bikes they rented in Passau delivered directly to Vienna and pick them up at our hotel, or they ride the route themselves and then continue their journey toward Bratislava—the Vienna–Bratislava leg is about 67 kilometers long.
Free, secure bike parking in a locked courtyard
You can park your bike for free and securely in the hotel’s locked courtyard. Access is reserved exclusively for hotel guests. Just speak to our front desk team upon arrival—we’ll show you the way.
Bike Rentals and Additional Information
Information about the Vienna bike-sharing service PEDALPOWER (pedalpower.at) is posted on our bulletin board—which is handy if you didn’t bring your own bike or need to rent one while in Vienna. If you’re traveling without your own bike, you’ll also find a well-developed bike-sharing network in Vienna. The nearest bike-sharing station is located right near Stephansplatz—just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.
