Parking options at the Kärntnerhof
The Kärntnerhof offers parking facilities in the nearby Heiligenkreuzerhof and in an underground parking garage on Georg-Coch-Platz, which is about an 8-minute walk away. Access to the Heiligenkreuzerhof is possible daily from 06:00 to 21:00, with the option of leaving by 12:00 on the day of departure. The underground parking garage is open around the clock. The cost for parking is € 25,- per night in the Heiligenkreuzerhof or € 25,- for 24 hours in the underground parking garage. You will receive further details on arrival at our reception.

The entire hotel, including all rooms, suites, the lounge, the breakfast room and the lobby, is fully air-conditioned to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Family friendliness
Children are particularly welcome at the Kärntnerhof. In double rooms, one child up to 12 years stays free of charge. We are happy to provide you with a crib on request, at no extra cost.
Pet friendliness
Small dogs up to a weight of 12 kg are allowed in the Kärntnerhof, with a cleaning fee of € 40,- per room and stay, or € 100,- in the Christiane Hörbiger Suite. Please indicate when booking whether you are traveling with a dog, as not all rooms are suitable for pets. Dogs are not allowed in the Dom Suite and the Madame Rosa Suite.

Hotel Wien Innenstadt: Information about the Kärntnerhof
The Kärntnerhof, a jewel among Vienna’s grand hotels in miniature format, fascinates with its extraordinary location and the redesign by Niccolò Grassi, a famous designer known for his work for Ferragamo. This redesign combines Viennese Art Nouveau with French charm and Italian elegance, recognizable by carefully selected wallpaper, velvet-covered furniture and an impressive art collection. The latter, inspired by Alexander von Humboldt, includes a rich selection of animal motifs such as butterflies, birds and ostrich eggs, which emphasize the extraordinary flair of the hotel. A special feature is the roof terrace, which functions as a lounge during the summer months and offers breathtaking views of the baroque towers of the Heiligenkreuzerhof.
The history of the building, which now houses 41 rooms and 3 suites, is no less impressive: known as “Madame Rosa” after the Second World War, it once served as a brothel. The esteemed Austrian actress Christiane Hörbiger, who felt a special connection to this place, counted the hotel among her favorite Viennese addresses. Her pug Loriot regularly enjoyed the care of the staff and the hospitality of the house.
Nicole Nagel, co-owner and managing director of the Kärntnerhof, emphasizes that Vienna has been a hub for artists, thinkers and traders from all over Europe for centuries – a tradition that has been consciously taken up in the design of the Kärntnerhof. Nicole, who grew up in a family of hoteliers and whose father, Friedrich Nagel, began his career in the 1950s with the Hotel Plaza in Berlin and the Viennese restaurant Old Vienna, continues the legacy with further establishments in Italy, Spain and Germany. The Viennese family acquired the Kärntnerhof in the 1980s and commissioned the Italian designer Niccolò Grassi and the Belgian Eline de Potter to redesign it. Eline de Potter took care of the private art collection and contributed to the warm and inviting color scheme.
Niccolò Grassi was responsible for the design of most of the furniture and lighting. The green-grey boiserie, made in authentic Viennese Art Nouveau colors in a Tuscan manufactory, armchairs and sofas of Belgian manufacture as well as furniture accessories handmade in Florence define the ambience of the hotel. Wallpapers from renowned manufacturers such as Farrow & Ball, Osborne & Little and Sandberg create a classic yet modern setting that highlights the artwork, including a portrait of Christiane Hörbiger by fashion photography legend Elfi Semotan, which is on display in the Christiane Hörbiger Suite.

U-Bahn und Straßenbahn in de Nähe.Zimmer gepflegt und die Betten fanden wir gut. Dachterrasse für Sundowner vorhanden.Wir kommen gerne wieder. .

Sylvia Koehler26/09/2023Ein schönes, alter familiengeführtes Wiener Hotel. Frühstücksbüfett ist sehr gut. Hotel hat 6 Etagen mit typischem alten Lift. Hotel liegt sehr zentral , aber in einer Seitenstraße, daher sehr ruhig. Gut erreichbar, in der Nähe vom Schwedenplatz gelegen. Als Hotel für einen Kurzurlaub bestens geeignet.
